MARCH 30, 2025.
I wrote and realeased this song while I was still single. I did not meet my husband until I was 30 years old. As a single Christian who was not granted the 'gift of singleness' to go with it, the loneliness and unmet needs had become so painful and oppressive to me, that I couldn't stand listening to love songs, even by my favorite bands. It was just too painful for me.
I knew I wasn't alone in these feelings, and other Christians (especially those who are already married) tend to miss the empathy when they try to address it. All you often hear is 'Jesus is all you need!' but we are also called to reach out and comfort the lonely and despondent ourselves.
So I wrote a song about it.
Even though I did find "The One", I'm still keeping my vow to never write a love song, because I know there will always be others who are still left behind and feel the same way that I did then, and I never want to forget what God brought me out of, lest I one day take it for granted.
